WICHITA — Michael William Flynn passed away at his home on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022. Michael (Mike) was born in Great Bend, Kan., to Willene Louise (Morrison) Flynn and Kenneth Eugene Flynn on Nov. 2, 1951.

Mike wed Darylee (Follis) on May 26, 1979. She survives at the home. They have two children. Katie Ann was born March  25, 1981. She resides in Illinois with her children Walter and Lois Amundson. John Michael was born Aug. 2, 1982. John has two sons, Michael and Tucker. He resides in Hawaii. Mike has two brothers. Daniel (Brenda) of Lawrence, Kan. and Thomas (Betty) of Atlanta, Ga.

Mike was an active educator from the years 1977 through 2018 when he retired. Mike’s passionate interest in history led him to teach history in the public school districts in Hoxie and Parsons, Kan. He also managed the libraries at those schools. He taught history at Labette Community College and Barton Community College. He was the Coordinator of Outreach at Barton and Seward Community Colleges. 

Mike enjoyed church history. He was an active participant in Bible Studies and classes at churches he attended throughout his life. Recently, Mike was a member of Countryside Christian Church in Wichita, Kan. He was often sought out for his expertise in the Scripture and his opinions on relevant church topics. His family and his church community were of the utmost importance to Mike. He will be missed.
