WICHITA — Norma (Nordman) Knight went to be with her heavenly family on June 19, 2022. She was a gracious, beautiful, and kind woman who cared deeply for her family and friends. She married Harlyn Knight on Feb. 14, 1955, in Larned, Kan. They had two children, Layna and (Harlyn) Perry II.
Norma grew up on the family farm where she learned a strong work ethic that transferred to her vocation as a cosmetologist in the family’s salon in Neodesha, and eventually as a sales professional in cosmetics at Dillard’s in Wichita.
She loved to entertain, a phenomenal cook, and hostess - always dressed impeccably in the latest fashion. Everyone knew her huge heart with her door always open and room for ‘one more’. Norma and Harlyn loved ballroom dancing to the waltz, polka, jitterbug, playing cards, singing/music, telling stories, partying by the pool, or decorating and celebrating the holidays with their family and friends. When you spent the evening under Norma’s roof you could expect to be well fed and experience loving, fun-filled, unforgettable evenings.
Immediate family members who went before Norma include her parents, George and Augusta Nordman; husband, Harlyn Knight; son, (Harlyn) Perry Knight II; sisters, Alice (Leonard) Oborney and Melba (Leo) Stos; brother Maurice (Leola). Surviving immediate family members include her daughter, Layna (Joe) Trimmell; grandsons, Michael Trimmell and Preston (Megan) Roberts; great-granddaughters, Paisley Jo and Evelyn Roberts; sister, Margie Purdy; sister-in-law, Charlene Sanders; and multiple nieces and nephews.
Norma and her beautiful contagious smile will be missed by all who were blessed to be known and loved by her.
Norma Knight’s graveside service will be held at the Larned, Kan. Cemetery on Monday, June 27, 2022 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Titus James officiating.
