COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa — Rhonda Hall, age 68, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2020 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was born Aug. 30, 1951, in Great Bend to Luke and Lila Hall. She grew up in an extended family of siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins where her father was the quintessential Kansas wheat farmer. After attending parochial school, she went on to study for her BA in Communications at St Mary of the Plains College in Dodge City. It was there that she fell in love with the theatre.
While she made a living as a Project Administrator, her evenings and weekends were spent building props, creating costumes, taking tickets and whatever else was needed. In her 40+ years in the Omaha community, she worked with numerous theatres. She served as President of Opera Omaha Craftsman’s Guild and was awarded lifetime achievement awards from Opera Omaha and the Theatre Arts Guild.
She found the perfect spot to practice her craft at the Chanticleer Community Theatre in Council Bluffs and found her home, right across the street at Harvester Artspace Lofts. She was well liked and the residents there became her theatre family.
She is survived by her sister Anita Exline of Topeka and two brothers, Kevin Hall of Moberly, Mo. and Brett Hall of Spring, Texas.
Rhonda will be returning to rest alongside her parents at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Seward, Kan. An internment service will be scheduled at a later date. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made in her name to the Chanticleer Scholarship Fund, 1001 South 6th Street, Council Bluffs, IA 51501.
