ELLINWOOD — Robert B. Reser, 89, died Jan. 16 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation, Great Bend. He was born Feb. 1, 1921, at Caney, the son of Frank Byron and Mattie Fern Condor Reser. He graduated from Douglas High School in 1940. He married Betty Lou Elliott on April 23, 1944, at Denver, Colo. She died Sept. 21, 1992. A longtime Ellinwood resident, formerly of Bushton, he was owner of the former Reser Welding & Repair of Ellinwood.
Mr. Reser served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 424, Claflin; and Past Master of the Masonic Lodge in Ellinwood. He was also a member of Isis Shrine, Salina, and a former Boy Scout leader in Ellinwood.
Survivors include three sons, Tom Reser, David Reser and Scott Reser, all of Ellinwood; two daughters, Kala Chaney, Burlington, and Claudia DeWerff, Wichita; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Steve Reser; daughter-in-law Diane Reser; a granddaughter Hanna Schwerdt; a brother, Frank Reser Jr.; and two sisters, Mary Wertz and Emma Jean Turner.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with the Rev. Robert Friesen officiating. Burial will be at Lakin Comanche Cemetery in Ellinwood, with Masonic graveside service and military honors by Fort Riley. Memorials are suggested to Camp Hope or Boy Scout Troop 153, Ellinwood, in care of the funeral home.
