Russell Stanley Hannigan Sr., 90, died Jan. 11, 2014 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born Sept. 1, 1923, in Waynoka, Okla., he was the son of Frank E. and Lucy (Whitaker) Hannigan. On Feb. 17, 1943, he married Florence Folger in Hoisington. She died on Oct. 2, 1995. A resident of Great Bend, coming from Hoisington in 1948, he was the owner and operator of Town and Country Mobile Homes and later Hannigan’s Antique Autos.
Mr. Hannigan served during World War II in the Army Air Corps. He was a member of the American Legion Argonne Post 180 and the Optimist Club of Great Bend, in which he served as past president.
Survivors include one son, Russell S. “Stan” Hannigan Jr., and his wife Bi, of Great Bend; one daughter, Vicky Anderson, and her husband Bob, of Aurora, Colo,; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Frank E. Hannigan Jr.; and two sisters, Evelyn Murcray and Norma Jean Spears.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the Great Bend Cemetery officiated by the Rev. Dick Ogle. Friends may visit from noon to 9 p.m. today at Bryant Funeral Home.
