HUTCHINSON — Sylvia Fern Marker, 94, died Nov. 23 at her home in Hutchinson. Born Dec. 12, 1917 in Nickerson, she was the daughter of Harvey H. and Ida Toewes VanNorman. In October of 1937, she married Lloyd Albert Marker. Together the two enjoyed many years of weekend camping trips before Lloyd’s death in August of 2002. A resident of Sterling for 65 years before moving to Hutchinson in 2002, she was a homemaker.
One of Sylvia’s passions was writing children’s books and poems that she shared with family and friends. She was an avid fisher and devoted member of Temple Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Bob of South Hutchinson and Larry and friend Janet Warkentine of Wilson; sister, Viola Andrews of California; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and special friends, Larry and Anita Schmidt of Hutchinson. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Dorothy Blackford-VanNorman.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. today at Temple Baptist Church, with Pastor Willard Stafford presiding. Burial will be at the Sterling Cemetery.
