GARDEN CITY — Terry Lee Piland, 56, died on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2022 at St Catherine Hospital in Garden City surrounded by his family. He was born on Jan. 29, 1966 at Great Bend the son of Troy and Linda (Meyeres) Piland. He married Connie Patterson on April 11, 2015 at Great Bend.
Terry graduated with the Class of 1984 from Great Bend High School where he played on the football team. He went to work for UPS for 13 years. In 1991 he moved to Garden City to become the owner-operator of Piland Auto Dismantling & Towing.
He loved to spend time with his family & friends, goose hunting, fishing, wood carving, painting, his casino trips and his passion for cars. He was always humble and generous with everyone he met and had a great respect for his friends in blue who he worked with over the years.
He is survived by his wife Connie Piland; mother, Linda Piland of Great Bend; two brothers, Darrell Piland of Garden City and Scott (Tammy) of Great Bend; three nephews, Cody Piland, Logan Leuenberger and Landon Leuenberger;, six nieces, Haley Jackson, Lindsay Leuenberger, Lawsyn Leuenberger, Amanda Decker, Maci Patterson and Shaylee Patterson; Connie’s brothers and sisters, Karen (Glenn) Herl, Keith ( Cindy) Patterson, Cathy (Tracy) Crain and Kevin (Lori) Patterson; mother-in-law, Vera Conley and numerous great-nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father and grandparents, Rudy and Alice Meyeres and uncle, Gary Piland.
Terry lived by his favorite motto: “Never Give Up.”
Mass of the Resurrection will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022 at Prince Of Peace Catholic Church, St. Patrick Parish in Great Bend, with the Rev. Aneesh Parappanattu and the Rev. Charles Mazouch as celebrants. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Garden City Police Explorer Program Post No. 1911 in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
