HANSTON — Terry Salmans, 71, passed away June 4, 2022 at Hodgeman County Health Center, Jetmore.
He was born Sept. 23, 1950 in Jetmore; the son of Junior and Maxine McKibbin Salmans.
A lifetime area resident, he was a member of the First Baptist Church, Hanston, volunteered on the Hanston Fire Department, was a past member of the Hanston School Board and Hanston City Council and was a member of the Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association. Prior to owning and operating Salmans Trucking; he worked with the family business’ Salmans Harvesting and Salmans Construction.
On Sept. 29, 1972 he married Danetta Schartz in Great Bend, Kan. She survives.
Other survivors include his mother, Maxine Salmans, Jetmore; two daughters, Tara Salmans, Dodge City and Sidni (Mitchell) Durler, Jetmore; two brothers, Jay (Jeanne) Salmans, Montezuma and Lane (Lisa) Salmans, Gruver, Texas; his granddaughter Dylan Durler and his grandson Dalton Durler; a brother-in-law, Jim Byrum, Dodge City and three sisters-in-law, Cetra Salmans, Hays, and Eddi Spacil and Jacque Knop both of Wakeeney and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by; his father, Junior Salmans, a brother, Marc Salmans and a sister, Janet Byrum.
Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Hanston with Pastor Rod McMillan presiding. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday with family present from 6-8 p.m. at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore, Kan.
