HESSTON — Thebe Jahay, 89, passed away Oct. 5 at Schowalter Villa, Hesston. She was born Nov. 13, 1920, in Sioux Falls, S.D., the daughter of Daniel and Fatima Adul Hamway. She worked at Hesston Child Care for 15 years.
In 1940 she married Emmett Jahay in Luverne, Minn. He passed away in March of 1978.
She is survived by four sons, Sammy (Helen) of Ellinwood, Feisal (Ellen) of Hesston, Ghazi (Denise) of Ellinwood, and Alex (Kristi) of Spokane, Wash.; two daughters, Azizi (Lowell) Lygrisse of Towanda, and Emily (Allen) Hughes of Wichita; two brothers, Albert of Stockton, Calif., and Dale of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two sisters, Bedia Compton of Stockton, Calif., and Beauty Huge of Sioux Falls, S.D.; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Nellie Hamway, and a brother, Sammy Hamway.
Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Schowalter Villa Chapel with Chaplain Wendy Miller officiating. Graveside service will be at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Fairview Park Cemetery in St. John. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Miller-Ott Funeral Home in Hesston. Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Caring Fund in care of the funeral home.
