HOISINGTON — William John “Bill” Luebbers, 68, passed away July 1, 2022, at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington. He was born Feb. 7, 1954, to Joseph and Martina (Younger) Luebbers. Bill married Becky (Keener) Schneider May 4, 1990, in Jetmore. She survives.
Bill, a 1972 graduate of Claflin High School and lifelong resident of Hoisington, served the community of Hoisington as a physician’s assistant for Clara Barton Hospital for 20 years. He had also worked in Hutchinson, Qatar, and Ft. Riley, retiring in 2020. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Fourth Degree member of Knights of Columbus, V.F.W. Post 6240, Russell, American Legion Post 320, Ellinwood. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1972-1978. His life passions include music, camping and woodworking.
Survivors include: his wife, Becky Luebbers of the home; one daughter, Corliss Niethamer and husband Adam of College Station, Texas; two stepdaughters, Brenda Muehleisen and husband Eric of Hays, and Kristy Alvord of Great Bend; one brother, Michael Luebbers and wife Dawn of St. Louis, Mo.; brother-in-law, Roy Weber of Hoisington; and three grandchildren, Carter Muehleisen, Parker Muehleisen and Jace Welcher. He was preceded in death by brother, Andy Luebbers and a sister, Susan Weber.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church in Hoisington, with Father Anselm Eke presiding. Interment will follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery, Hoisington. Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 5, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, with a Vigil with Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7 p.m. Memorials may be given to Clara Barton Hospital Foundation or American Heart Association, in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, P.O.
