Zola Farris Fischer 1922 - 2011

HUTCHINSON — Zola Farris Fischer, 88, died Jan. 24 at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. Born Nov. 17, 1922, in rural Stafford County, she was the daughter of Abraham and Kadisa Farris. On May 26, 1941, she married Sam Salem. She then married Merlin Fischer on June 10, 1967. She worked as a secretary at Hudson school, and at First National Bank of Hutchinson and Frontier Hybrids.

Mrs. Fischer was a member of the Silver Leaf Eastern Star Lodge No. 464.

She is survived by: husband Merlin of the home; a son, David Salem of St. John; one grandson and one granddaughter. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Sam and Albert Farris; and five sisters, Dorothy, Ida, Opal, Emma and Mable.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Minnis Chapel in Stafford with the Rev. Wade Russell presiding. Burial will be at the Stafford Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. today at Minnis Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Sterling College, in care of the chapel.
