Adopt A Pet day successful

Dear Editor,
In the last 30 days we have had a number of events that I would like to thank everyone involved in making them so successful! Along with the Adopt A Pet day held on May 4, we also held an Emergency Adoption Fair at our shelter on May 17th. These functions enable us to continue to make room for the never ending flow of dogs and cats that enter our shelter daily. The combined total adopted from these two events was 14 dogs and eight kittens! This is a huge accomplishment for our community!
At the Adopt A Pet day we also had a fundraiser in which I am happy to say that we made a grand total of $1.300 selling hamburger and hot dog meals. The funds from this fundraiser allowed us to offer free spayed and neutering services to the animals that were adopted during our emergency adoption day! I am truly overwhelmed by the support of our community and without all of you this would not have been possible! It is my hope that by moving forward with the fundraisers we can again offer to pay for the spayed and neutering in the future!
Our plan is to continue to have other fundraisers in the coming months. On Saturday June 1st we will be having our next Adopt A Pet day, where we will again have a number of dogs that are available for adoption. We will also be having our Hamburger/ Hot dog fundraiser on that day. Both events will again be at Orscheln’s so mark your calendars!
I would again urge you all to come out and enjoy lunch and visit with all of the adorable dogs and possibly adopt one of them and give them a forever home. I would also urge you all to come out to the shelter and look at all of the dogs and cats that are available for adoption as there are more than we could ever possibly bring to Orscheln’s! Rescues make the most wonderful pets and they deserve to
be given a chance. We have a very full facility right now and it is necessary to get these babies into homes where they can be given love and a great life! I would also like to remind everyone to please spayed and neuter your pets!
