BCC making use of Camp Aldrich

Improved marketing for Barton Community College’s Camp Aldrich was on a recent list of things we said we’d like to see in the new year. This has also been on the minds of people at the college, it turns out.
This year the college will move a popular fundraiser, the BCC Foundation Clay Shoot, from a Russell County shooting range/hunting service to Camp Aldrich in Barton County. Members of the Foundation Board have been planning this since last October.
Consultant Ted Eubanks with Fermata Inc. once did a study to explore the feasibility – and cost – of making the rural facility profitable again. He noted that Camp Aldrich is situated close to  Cheyenne Bottoms and the Kansas Wetlands Education Center, which gives it a lot of potential.
The college will showcase this venue on May 4. Even those who don’t care to shoot may want to turn out for this event.
