Barron, Barton overwhelm Dodge City in KJCCC play

DODGE CITY — Barton Community College sophomore forward Bianca Barron showed why she led the Lady Cougars soccer team in goals last season, scoring five in a 7-0 dismantling of Dodge City on Wednesday afternoon.
The Lady Cougars improve to 5-2 overall and 5-0 in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference action. Dodge City drops to 4-4, 1-2.
It was freshman Ronnie Johnson who got Barton started, scoring just 1:05 into the game.
Then Barron took over.
The 5-foot-1 sophomore scored the next four goals — three unassisted and one on a pass from Mariana Poveda.
Aliya Marshall scored an unassisted goal to give Barton a 6-0 advantage before feeding the ball to Barron for one last goal before halftime.
The Lady Cougars took 13 shots on goal while their defense held Dodge City to two.

• Cougars edge Dodge City 3-2
DODGE CITY — Ebu Camara, Barton’s sophomore forward, recorded a hat trick to lead the Cougars past Dodge City, 3-2 on Tuesday afternoon.
The Conquistadors scored first on an unassisted Benjamin Carter goal just six minutes into the game.
Camara scored an unassisted goal to knot the game at one, and drilled in a second goal on an assist from Juan Correa with less than two minutes remaining in the first half to put the Cougars on top 2-1.
Three minutes into the second half, Camara scored again, making it 3-1.
Roger Rizzi scored Dodge City’s final goal.
The Cougars improve to 5-1-1 overall and 4-1 in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference play. Dodge City drops to 4-4, 1-1.
Barton hosts Allen County on Saturday, starting with the women’s game at 2 p.m., and the men’s game following at 4.

• Barton volleyball team sweeps Pratt
The Barton volleyball team swept Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference opponent Pratt on Wednesday night at Kirkman Activity Center.
The Lady Cougars won 25-13, 25-19 and 25-15 to improve to 5-9 overall and 3-2 in conference play.
McKenzie Piland led the Lady Cougars with 13 kills.
Jori Mote added nine kills.
Casey Friesen finished with 28 assists.
Hoisington native Mykela Riedl led the team with nine digs.
Barton travels to Western Wyoming for the Wyo-Braska Shootout, starting on Friday and wrapping up on Saturday.
