The game didn’t mean much late in the season. It has no bearing on the conference standings nor post-season seeding.
The Barton volleyball team played like it didn’t as well.
The Cougars hardly threatened the NJCAA D-II No. 7 ranked Cowley Tigers on the road Saturday. Barton lost the match 25-12, 22-25, 25-14, 25-14. With the loss Barton fell to 21-7 overall while Cowley improved to 19-7.
The loss was the second straight for the Cougars – the first time that has happened all season.
Barton’s only good set was the second set in which the Cougars recorded 15 kills to just three errors. In the other sets Barton never had more than nine kills and had just two in the opening set.
Monique Oliveira led the Cougars with 12 kills during the win but had seven errors. Nathalia Gouveia added nine kills with five errors.
Carolina Goncalves finished with 29 assists in the loss. Olivia Naccarato and Averie Warehime each had six blocks.
