Bat Cats power past Brigade

The Great Bend Bat Cats have rebounded after losing four consecutive baseball games.
Anthony Capobianco from San Antonio, Texas singled twice and drove in three runs to spark the Bat Cats past the Junction City Brigade 14-1 Thursday at Al Burns Memorial Field.
The Brigade committed five errors. Great Bend drew 10 walks and had two batters hit by pitches.
Carson Lorch and Kade Goeke each drove in two runs.
Great Bend opened with a 5-run first inning. Christian Ammann and Goeke drew bases-loaded walks. Kyler Horsman scored on a wild pitch. Lorch and Capobianco drove in runs.
Capobianco singled in Lorch in the second inning. A 4-run third inning featured Jesse Ponce, Lorch, Jhett Creel and Cooper Smith with RBIs.
Goeke and Joey Marker drove in Ammann and Goeke in the fourth inning. Capobianco and Garrett Ninness delivered RBIs in a 2-run fifth inning.
Reliever Felix Heredia threw two scoreless innings with three strikeouts and a double play grounder turned by shortstop Walker and second baseman Marker. Four pitchers combined for six shutout innings after Parker Volski started the game.
Junction City's Erin Nuno scored on a first-inning wild pitch.
Great Bend (7-5) plays the Wichita Diamond Kings at 5 p.m. Saturday for a home twin bill.
