Cougars blow past Thunderbirds

CONCORDIA — The Barton Community College men's soccer team shut down Cloud County 2-0 in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference action on Thursday afternoon.

The game was scoreless heading into halftime, but Barton finally got on the scoreboard midway through the second half as Ebu Camara found Juan Correa to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead with 25:47 to play. 

Correa scored his second goal of the game with 9:45 to play by converting a penalty kick, helping secure the victory for the Cougars. 

With the win, Barton improves to 3-1-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play. Cloud County drops to 2-3-0, 1-1.

 

Lady Cougars edge Cloud County

CONCORDIA — The Barton women's soccer team posted its second consecutive road shutout by defeating Cloud County 1-0 on Thursday afternoon. 

Scoreless in the first half of play, Barton scored with 34:59 to play in the game as Aliya Marshall found the back of the net courtesy of a Bianca Barron assist. 

The Lady Cougars improve to 3-2 overall, remain undefeated in conference action at 3-0.

Cloud County drops to 1-2, 0-2.

Barton travels to Kansas City, Kan., on Sunday afternoon. The women's team plays at 1 p.m., and the men play at 3 p.m.
