Cougars split games at weekend tourney

SALINA — The Barton Community College men’s basketball team led by 15 points at halftime on Saturday afternoon against Southeast Community College at the Legends Classic.
Southeast turned the game around, scoring 51 points in the second half to win 82-77.
Harrowed by 24 turnovers, and Southeast’s 42.9 percent shooting (12-for-28) from beyond the arc, the Cougars couldn’t hold on to a 46-31 halftime lead.
Barton shot 40 percent from 3-point range, going 6-for-15.
The difference at the free-throw line clipped the Cougars.
The Storm shot 72.2 percent (26 of 36) from the line, and Barton was 40.7 percent (11 of 27).
Tyler Corley led Barton with 18 points.
Darius Gibson finished with 15 points, and Deriece Parks added 10 points off the bench.
Raheem Johnson led Barton with 12 rebounds, and Darryln Johnson finished with eight points and eight boards.
The Cougars face Indian Hills at 7 p.m. on Friday on the road, and challenge Marshalltown at 4:30 on Saturday.

Barton led 39-33 at halftime, and held on to beat Northwest Kansas Technical College on Friday afternoon to open the Legends Classic in Salina.
The Cougars were led by Gibson, who finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double.
Barton also got a double-double performance from Corley, who scored 17 points and had 10 assists.
Isaac Williams finished with 10 points, and Darryln Johnson came off the bench to add 10 points.
