Lady Cougars tennis team captures third

WICHITA — The Barton Community College women’s tennis team pulled out some close matches to finish third on Saturday at the National Junior College Athletic Association Region VI Tennis Championships.
The Cougars saw their season come to an end, taking fifth in the regional tournament.
The Lady Cougars qualified for the NJCAA Division I Championship for the first time since 2009, when they finished 15th.
The Barton women will continue their season at the national championships in Tucson, Arizona, May 4-10, 2013, while the Cougar men saw their season come to an end finishing fifth in the region.

The Barton Cougar softball team swept Colby 8-5 and 10-7 to solidify second place in the Jayhawk League. Barton (23-9, 17-3 Jayhawk) remains two games back of Hutchinson (25-5, 19-1 Jayhawk).
