MACKSVILLE — Ellinwood's Britton Dutton scored 29 points with six assists to spark the Eagles past Macksville 62-42  in Friday's Central Prairie League basketball game. 

Tyler Stuhlsatz scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds and sparkplug Parker Scheck scored 12 points for Ellinwood (7-1, 3-0 CPL). 

Macksville's Alexis Barron scored 11 points and Ryan Kuckelman contributed eight points, eight rebounds and four assists.

MACKSVILLE — Ellinwood's Bella Baker scored 17 points to lead the Eagles past Macksville in Friday's Central Prairie League basketball game. 

Mary Dimitt (13) and Brittany Simpson (10) also scored in double figures for Ellinwood (5-3, 2-1 CPL). Macksville ninth-grader Mayce Russell continued to shine with 20 points. Abi Ibarra contributed nine points, five steals and two assists for the Mustangs (1-7, 0-2 CPL). .

VICTORIA — Brynna Hammeke rescued Central Plains with 21 points in a hard-fought 42-36 Central Prairie League basketball victory over Victoria. Kassidy Nixon added eight points. The No. 1 ranked 1A Oilers have swept 42 consecutive Central Prairie League games.

VICTORIA — Victoria's Jason Karst scored 13 points and Eli Schmeidler added 12 points as the Knights downed Central Plains 66-42 in Friday's Central Prairie League basketball game.

Oiler Michael Laymon scored 13 points and Peyton Ryan and Tyler Holmes each added nine points for Central Plains (1-8), which misfired with 15 of 33 free throw shooting.

NICKERSON GIRLS 61, HOISINGTON 25

HOISINGTON — Josie McLean converted four 3-pointers as the Panthers converted seven 3-pointers in a 61-25 Central Kansas League basketball victory over Hoisington.

Nickerson all-stater Ava Jones contributed 18 points and 16 rebounds despite Hoisington's defensive double teams.

Hoisington (3-5, 0-2 CKL) was led by Keeley Wolf with eight points. Suzanna Schneider hit a pair of 3-pointers as the Cardinals made four 3-pointers.

HOISINGTON 71, NICKERSON 57

HOISINGTON — It's was appropriate when the eighth 3-pointer by Nickerson's Carson Linn's banked in the basket for a 24-point night. Linn sparked the Panthers' 15-point lead as they converted 14 of 33 3-pointers.

But the No. 4 ranked 3A Cardinals roared past the Panthers 71-57 by outscoring them 44-15 in the final 14 minutes. Nickerson led 42-27 by making 11 of 20 3-pointers.

Mason Haxton scored a career high 29 points, including 22 after halftime. Drew Nicholson scored 22 points. The Cardinals outscored the Panthers 18-3 at the free throw line.

The Cardinals created turnovers and extra possessions with 1-3-1 defense that switched the momentum.

"Our zone gave them a lot of trouble," said Hoisington coach Zach Baird. "Our 1-3-1 three-quarter court press gave them fits."

Braden Colglazier scored 13 points, grabbed six boards and passed out five assists. Adam Hands scored 12 points. Felipe Cordero had five steals.

CHASE – Thanks to Lindsay Winkelman, the Chase Kats earned their first basketball victory, a 46-44 thriller over Downs-Lakeside High School. Winkelman scored six fourth-quarter points and dished out eight assists.

Chase (1-7) was sparked by leading scorer Skylar Harrington, who scored 23 points with eight rebounds.

The Chase Kats are coached by Mike Marzolf, a Great Bend Tribune sportswriter.
