MAYETTA — Great Bend’s Kelby Titus and Larned High graduate Colton Massey have qualified for the 108th Kansas Amateur Golf Championship Tuesday at Firekeeper Golf Course. Players compete in 36 holes for 63 spots in match play which starts Thursday at Firekeeper.
Titus placed 10th as a senior (75) at Salina Municipal Golf Course and was a multi-state qualifier at Great Bend High School. Titus averaged 76.6 on the Barton Cougar golf team last season. Titus posted a trio of top 10 finishes — third at Crestview (147), fourth at Barton (148) and seventh at Colbert Hills (151).
Massey was a 4A state runner-up and four-time state qualifier at Larned High School. Massey captured the Central Kansas League title, won nine tournaments as a junior and placed 11th at state.
At Washburn University, Massey averaged 75.4 and posted a pair of top 20 finishes, highlighted by a sixth-place finish (214) at the Central Missouri Invitational. He earned all-MIAA honors.
