Ellinwood boys wins 3,200-meter relay

STERLING — Ellinwood’s boys captured first place in the 3,200-meter relay (9:18.93) with Asher Miller, Koy Behnke, Alex Cowing and Matthew Cook at Friday’s Sterling Track Invitational.

Placing runner-up for the Eagles were Cook, 400 (53.29); Miller, 3,200 (10:35); Cody Zink, pole vault (9-0); the Eagles’ 400-meter relay (45.96) with Britton Dutton, Zink, Behnke and Cook; and the 1,600-meter relay (3:41.0) with Zink, Cook, Dutton and Behnke.

Ellinwood’s girls earned a trio of runner-up finishes — Brittany Simpson, 200 (28.34); Mary Dimitt, discus (99-3) and Kennedy Behnke, 400 (1:06.76).

Cardinals win Ellsworth tennis title ELLSWORTH — Hoisington's No. 1 singles Jasper Pawlowski, No. 2 singles Brody Rossman and No. 2 doubles Kian DeLong/Xander Mooney placed first as the Cardinals won the Ellsworth tennis title April 3 with 67 points. In championship matches, Jasper Pawlowski defeated Cimarron's Landon Houseman, 8-2; Rossman downed Cimarron's Jacob Pando 8-4; and DeLong/Mooney defeated Trego's Lucas Dreher/Mason Yingling 8-6. Trego's No. 1 doubles Graeden Deines/Camdyn Flavin edged Hoisington's Leyton Mooney/Gabriel Pawlowski, 8-7 (7-2) in a tiebreaker.
