LYONS — Larned’s returning state qualifier Brock Skelton won the 100 (11.42) and triple jump (41-81/2) and led the Indians’ 400-meter relay to first place (45.49) at Friday’s Lyons Track Invitational. Skelton placed 10th in the 4A long jump (20-2) and 16th in the 4A triple jump (39-93/4) last year.
Larned’s boys won the team title (126.5) followed by Halstead (108.5). Larned’s girls captured the team title with 115 points.
Running with Skelton on the first-place relay were Jacob Smith, Chance Sanger and Jason Anderson. Jacob Smith won the long jump (20-53/4) with Skelton placing runner-up (20-5).
Other individual winners were Macksville’s Harley Blaske, 110 hurdles (17.63); and 300 hurdles (43.63); St. John’s Trey Fisher, 400 (52.65) and A.J. Miller, 1,600 (5:02.85); Central Plains’ Cole Lamatsch, 3,200 (11:17.53) and Otis-Bison’s Luke Higgason, discus (136-8) and Seth Hoopingarner, javelin (167-0).
GIRLS DIVISION — Larned’s girls won two events to capture the girls division with 115 points with St. John (86) runner-up and Ellinwood (83) third. Cagney Lemuz won the 100 ( 13.43) and the Indians won the 400-meter relay (54.09) with Cagney Lemuz, Halle Barker, Shaylee Nesby and Katelynn Sanger competing.
St. John’s Paige Doran swept the pole vault (8-0), 100-meter hurldes (17.91) and 300-meter hurdles (45.0).
Other winners were Ellinwood’s LaTaja Gray, 200 (28.74); Ashtin Klepper, 1,600 (5:45.43); Erin Hammeke, 3,200 (12:45.42); and Maddy Ward, discus (101-7); Macksville’s
Brooke Smith, high jump (5-2); Abi Ibarra, 400 (1:07.59); St. John’s Erin Crissman, long jump (15-7); and Central Plains’ Lexi Oeser, javelin (107-7).
