LIBERAL — The Liberal Redskins were credited with a 7-0 victory over Wichita Southeast in Friday's opening football game that was called an official game at halftime at 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

Bren Kappelmann passed to Ismael Calderon for a 6-yard touchdown pass with 8 seconds remaining in the first half to cap a 96-yard drive.

The game was slowed by lightning more than four hours. Play resumed at 11:30 and halftime started at 12:09 a.m.

After a 10 minute halftime, the game was called "an official game" after a another lightning strike.
