Hoisington 62, Hesston 53

HESSTON — After 16 minutes, the Hesston High School boys’ basketball team and Hoisington were knotted at 31, but the Cardinals outscored 31-22 in the second half to win on Saturday night.
Ryan Bieberle led the Redbirds with 20 points. Cody Stetler was the only other Cardinals player in double digits with 14.
Derrick Kaiser added nine points, and Dustin Broeder scored eight.

HESSTON — The Hesston High School girls’ basketball team built a steady lead through the first three quarters, and Hoisington was unable to come back in spite of outscoring the Swathers in the final eight minutes.
The Lady Redbirds were led by Mallory Flagor, who put in nine points.
Jordin Greer added six points and Savannah Rose contributed four.

Larned 51, Chaparral 46
PRATT — Larned beat Chaparral to capture fifth place at the Pratt Girls Basketball Tournament of Champions on Saturday evening.
The Lady Indians put together a 13-4 lead in the first half, and held on to win.
Larned was led by Brittney Perez, who scored 15 points. Brittanie Miller added 11 as the only other Lady Indians player in double digits.
Amanda Haberman put in eight points, and Shanna Prescott scored six on a pair of 3-pointers.

Friday’s games
GIRLS
Claflin 54, Sterling 47

STERLING — Claflin held an eight-point lead after three quarters and was able to oust host Sterling at the Sterling Round Robin Tournament on Friday night.
The Lady Wildcats were led by Courtney Liebl, who rang up 15 points.
Sydney Rugan added 12 points, including 6 of 6 from the free-throw line. Morgan Hekele put in seven.

PRATT — After one quarter, Larned held a 13-0 lead, which it widened to 33-7 by halftime to beat Wichita West on Friday night in the consolation bracket game of the Pratt Girls Tournament of Champions.
The Lady Indians were led by Amanda Haberman, who rang up a game-high 16 points.
Shanna Prescott, Katie Seeman and Brittanie Miller added six points apiece.

PRATT — It was a mad dash to the finish, but Class 4A Pratt outscored 1A St. John 9-8 in the final eight minutes to edge past the Lady Tigers in a semifinal of the Pratt Girls Tournament of Champions on Friday night.
The win advanced Pratt to the championship game against 6A Wichita Heights. It was played Saturday night. No result was available at presstime.
The Lady Tigers were led by Morgan Osborne, who put in 11 points.
Teresa Wade added nine points, all from the free-throw line, and Alexis Witt scored eight.
