Lady Cougars beat Ellinwood after fourth-quarter comeback

ELLINWOOD — Down 30-24 after three quarters, the Otis-Bison High School girls’ basketball team came screaming back, outscoring Ellinwood 11-4 to win 35-34 on Tuesday night.
The Lady Cougars were led by Hannah Bannister, who scored 12 points.
Sophia Hayes led the Lady Eagles with 11 points, including nine in the second half.

SEDGWICK — The Hoisington girls improved to 4-1 after beating Sedgwick on the road.
The Lady Cardinals were led by Mallory Flagor, who finished with 22 points. Blakelee Cooper added six points.
Hoisington travels to Larned on Friday.

St. John 58,
Central Plains 39

ST. JOHN — St. John leapt to a 15-2 lead after the first quarter, and Central Plains was unable to dig itself out of the hole.
The Lady Tigers, who are ranked No. 1 in Class 1A Division-I in the latest Kansas Basketball Coaches Association poll, were led by Teresa Wade, who had 15 points including 5-for-5 from the free-throw line.
The Lady Oilers went into the game undefeated after winning the Amos Morris/George Stevens Classic in Lincoln over the weekend by beating Ell-Saline 44-35.
Central Plains was led by Sydney Rugan, who scored 13 points.

FAIRFIELD — The Fairfield girls led 30-13 at halftime, and never let Stafford back into the game.
The Lady Trojans were led by Kym Womack, who scored eight points. Regan Harris added four points.
Stafford will be back in action after the Christmas break, hosting Fairfield on Jan. 10.

Sedgwick 45,
Hoisington 35

SEDGWICK — The No. 4-ranked Hoisington boys were handed their first loss by Sedgwick.
The Cardinals (4-1) were led by Anthony Broeder, who finished with 10 points. Derrick Kaiser added eight points.
Cody Stetler, Hoisington’s 6-foot-8 center, left the game early after rolling his ankle. Cardinals head coach Kyle Haxton said that he doesn’t expect Stetler back until after the Christmas break.

Ellinwood 38

ELLINWOOD — The Otis-Bison boys had a strong second half, outscoring Ellinwood 33-14, to win on the road.
The Cougars were led by Dylan Wissman, who scored 15 points including 11 in the second half.
Kyle Blakeslee led the Eagles with 14 points including 7-for-8 from the free-throw line.
