Lady Panthers compete at Salina invite

SALINA — The Great Bend High School girls’ tennis team finished tied for fir fifth place with Wichita Kapaun Mt. Carmel on Thursday evening at the Salina South Tennis Invitational.
The Lady Panthers were led by dominant doubles duo Morgan Francis and Macy Moyers.
The combination continued their undefeated streak with a 4-0 day for first place.
“Macy and Morgan ran their record to 21-0 with four perfect doubles matches,” GBHS head coach Shannon Schartz said. “They did not lose a game all day.”
Carly Boyd and Addison Westhoff combined for 12th place in the doubles division, going 1-3 on the day.
“We moved Addison Westhoff to doubles to play with Carly Boyd,” Schartz said. “Addison was very steady playing in her first ever doubles matches.”
Morgan McIntosh went 1-3 for 14th place in singles competition.
Misty Wittig went 0-4 for 16th place as a singles player.
“(We) had an injury with our No. 1 singles player and a sickness with half of our No. 2 doubles team,” Schartz said. “Misty Wittig and Morgan McIntosh did a great job of filling our singles spots.”
