ELLINWOOD — Ellinwood's Shyria Quintana homered and drove home two runs to spark the Eagles past Russell 7-5 to salvage a split of Thursday's softball doubleheader.

Russell (3-11) won the opener 16-4.

ELLINWOOD 7, RUSSELL 5 (G2) — Pitcher Jacobs (4-6) struck out two batters to earn the victory.

Jacobs (.636), Quintana (.519) and Anna Hahn (.320) scored first-inning runs. Quintana's homered was followed by Jenna Borror scoring on a bases-loaded third inning walk for a 5-3 lead.

Quintana's fourth-inning double scored Jacobs and Hahn scored on a Borror groundout for a 7-3 lead.

Russell's Ashlynn Henley and Jamie Toon drove in runs.

RUSSELL 16, ELLINWOOD 4 (G2) — Russell's Maddie Middleton and Jasmine Jefferson each drove home three runs to spark the Broncos.

Eagles Jenaveve Franco (.321), Jenna Sandberg and McKena Parker drove home runs. Jacobs doubled and singled twice.
