NEWARK, N.J. — Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade and New Jersey Nets point guard Deron Williams missed Monday night’s game with injuries.
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said that Wade was being given a day off as part of a maintenance program for a right ankle injury that has sidelined him a couple of times. The All-Star had 28 points and nine assists in a win over the Knicks on Sunday.
Miami is 11-1 in games that Wade does not start.
Williams injured his right calf on Saturday night in a loss to Boston. With backup Jordan Farmar out with a groin injury, Sundiata Gaines started for the Nets.
Spoelstra also said that center Ronny Turiaf (hamstring) and forward Shane Battier (neck-back) probably would miss the game.
