Eagle Communications changes

As an employee owned company, Eagle Communications is always looking for that next generation of company leaders...particularly with the growth of digital technology and social media. Great Bend Station Manager, Rick Nulton, has announced that Matt Althouse, also known to radio listeners as Matt McBain, is stepping up and taking on new challenges and opportunities. According to Nulton, ”Matt has been our go-to guy in the areas of Information Technology. Like many other businesses, radio stations are increasingly dependant on computers and new technology developments to operate more efficiently and to offer more products. Matt was instrumental in setting up the Great Bend Post and is responsible for helping to create and upload ad content to our digital billboard at 10th & Main in Great Bend.” Althouse has been associated with the Eagle Media Center as an employee of Hull Broadcasting since 2006. Eagle operates under a Joint Sales Agreement with Hull to market “Hit’s 106.9 - KGBL FM. According to Nulton, “Matt Althouse will officially become an Eagle Communications employee on Dec. 1st. In addition to his many other responsibilities, Althouse will be the Director of Digital Media Operations and Sales. This position was formerly held by Ed McGilber who has relocated to his home in Houston, Texas.”
With Althouse’s move to Eagle, Hull Broadcasting employee Cole Reif has been named local station manager for KBGL FM. Reif, a Great Bend native, is also instrumental as Assistant News Director and Sports Director. After training with Steve Webster during last year’s basketball season, Reif is the voice of the Barton County Cougars on B 104-3, KVGB FM. Reif also called football play by play for the Hoisington Cardinals on 100.7 – KHOK.
Former part time air personality, Karina Galvin, will become a full time Hull Broadcast employee effective December 1st.
Earlier this year, Janae Svoboda, joined the Eagle staff as Promotions Coordinator. An Ellsworth County native and K-State graduate with a degree in Public Health Nutrition, Svoboda was formerly with Barton Community College as an Assistant to the Vice President. After being contacted by K State, Svoboda will be returning to her original path as a nutritional educator covering a six county area.  According to Nulton, “we will all miss the enthusiasm that Janae brought to the position, and wish her all the best. She won’t be moving very far as her permanent office will be in the Extension building just across the street from the Eagle Media Center.”
With the departure of Svoboda, this created another internal opportunity for Dwayne Cooper. In addition to his other responsibilities including KVGB FM Program Director, Cooper will be the new Promotions Coordinator for the stations.
Rick Nulton said, “Change is inevitable and the older I get the harder it gets, especially when we have to say goodbye to good people.  The other side is that when one door closes, another opens. We now have an opportunity for a full time radio sales person. We are advertising for that position right now and am confident we’ll find the right person to join our Eagle family here in Great Bend.”
