Prairie Godmothers offer 'Sparkles & Spirits'

Current and prospective Prairie Godmothers are invited to a holiday cocktail party to benefit The Prairie Godmother Funds in celebration of #GivingTuesday. “Sparkles & Spirits” will be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Renue Salon & Spa, 1405 Main Street, Great Bend. Drop off a monetary donation and stay if you can for complimentary hors-d'oeuvres, festive desserts and holiday spirits. No reservation necessary.
#GivingTuesday is a national giving campaign that follows Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday. The idea is to “Give Local” to the causes you care about most. This year, the Golden Belt Community Foundation will encourage local giving with a $25,000 match.
All throughout the month of November, Prairie Godmother donors are encouraged to give generously to the nonprofit group’s endowment, which provides emergency grants to women in Barton County whose needs cannot be met by another local agency. The real #GivingTuesday falls on Nov. 28, but since the holidays are so busy members are planning this special early gathering on Nov. 14.
Donations help continue the Prairie Godmothers mission of “Women Helping Women.” Members hope to see the endowment fund reach $250,000 by the end of 2018, and said events such as this are a great way to get there and have fun doing it.
Kathy Schugart underwrote the expenses for this early Giving Tuesday fundraiser.
The Prairie Godmother Funds has over 330 members, and any woman can become a new godmother by making a contribution of any amount at one of the events. Invite a friend, and “like” The Prairie Godmother Funds Facebook page.

$25K in matching
funds available
There is a $25,000 pool of matching funds available to all the funds participating in Golden Belt Community Foundation’s Giving Tuesday efforts. This means that the donations raised at the event will be matched on a proportional basis in relation to the total amount raised. Donations to “The Prairie Godmother Funds” can also be mailed to the Golden Belt Community Foundation, 1307 Williams in Great Bend, KS 67530, any time during the month of November, or on their website, www.goldenbeltcf.org.
