Greetings and Salutations from your Great Bend Public Library. It just seems like April is flying by even with the occasional blast of cold weather. We are busy preparing for our Summer Library Programs and even announced Our Community Luau on June 1st (make sure to save the date)from 5:30 p.m. -7:30 p.m.. This year’s Summer Library Program Theme is ‘Libraries Rock,’ and we are doing our best to bring the music to you. Some of our other Summer activities include Monday Musicals in Adult’s, Children’s, and Teens areas throughout the day, Wednesday Adventures for all ages, and Friday’s Jive and Joes with free coffee and live music from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.
We cannot wait for summer to arrive but we still have a lot to get done before all of these programs are unleashed. We are still in need of several donation items like: paper towel tubes, metal bottle caps, empty Pringles cans, shoe boxes, vinyl records of all sizes, CDs, washi tape, colorful duct tape, bobby pins, yarn, and embroidery floss.
We have had such a great response from local businesses with Summer Library Donations. If you or someone you know wants to make a donation we have forms available here at the library or you can email us at gbcirc@gmail.com to receive a donation form.
We do not have any activities scheduled for next week. Make sure to come in and visit the different areas of your library. Have you seen the new shelves in the Children’s area? Taken a look at the Teens Gizmo Dojo corner? Spoken with an Adult Librarian about e-books that you can check out? Taken a class with our 3D printer? Even without our weekly events there is so much to learn and explore here at your Great Bend Public Library so make sure to come in today.
I also wanted to add dear readers that this will be my last weekly column with you as I have received another job opportunity that is taking me away from the Great Bend Public Library. Thank you for reading each week and I’m happy to leave you in Haylee’s most competent hands.
