Quilting Bees meeting again

LARNED — After several months of not meeting, the Quilting Bees guild met on Aug. 4 in the fellowship hall of the First Presbyterian Church of Larned. Ann Hicks, president read a thank you note from Alice Clapsaddle for the gift received for winning Best of Show at the Pawnee County Fair. Also noted was Janell Barton, who was awarded Reserve Champion for her entered quilt. Other guild members receiving ribbons were Merlene Baird and Melvina Prescott. 

The following members announced projects completed or started during the pandemic: Diann Morell, a quilt for a wedding present; Janell Barton, bed runner and quilt for the fair; Becky Obermiller, challenge project quilt, “She Came From Kansas” quilt, block of the month quilt; Alice Clapsaddle, quilt projects entered in the fair including a Halloween small wall hanging and a Christmas small wall hanging; Mary Weber, mowing yard and reading; Diane Schultz, four projects completed including a Quilt of Valor; Karen Hadley, quilting on various projects; Colleen Wolf, numerous knitted projects; Melvina Prescott, four quilts including a wedding quilt; Ann Hicks, face masks, two wall Christmas and Fall wall hangings, 4th of July wall hanging, and quilting projects made by granddaughter Kayla Leiker.

Ann Hicks demonstrated projects made using scraps and coffee filters from a quilt book recently given to her. 

The next regular meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Aug. 18.
