The Sterling Community Theatre Troupe will bring the acclaimed Broadway musical “Come From Away” to the stage this summer as part of Sterling’s annual Old Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration.
Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m., Thursday and Friday, July 2 and 3, with a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee on July 5, in the Betsy Dutton Theatre at Sterling High School.
Based on the remarkable true story following the events of September 11, 2001, Come From Away tells the story of the small town of Gander, Newfoundland, which welcomed nearly 7,000 stranded airline passengers from around the world after U.S. airspace was closed. Rather than focusing on tragedy, the musical celebrates the kindness, humor, generosity, and humanity that emerged as strangers became friends during an extraordinary moment in history.
Filled with powerful music and heartfelt storytelling, “Come From Away” has become one of the most celebrated musicals of the last decade, praised for its uplifting message of compassion and community.
The production will feature local and regional performers and continues the Sterling Community Theatre Troupe tradition of presenting large-scale summer productions as part of Sterling’s Independence Day festivities.
Additional ticket information and cast announcements will be released in the coming weeks.
