Golden Plains Quilts of Valor awarded four quilts to veterans on April 29, 2022, at the American Legion Post 180 in Great Bend.


Dewey Ball


United States Army veteran Dewey Ball was awarded a Quilt of Valor from Golden Plains Quilts of Valor on April 29, 2022 at the American Legion Post 180 in Great Bend. Ball served from 1974 to 1987 at many different locations, and was a Staff Sergeant at the time of his discharge from the Army. Lee Rohr


United States Army veteran Lee Rohr was awarded a Quilt of Valor from Golden Plains Quilts of Valor on April 29, 2022 at the American Legion Post 180 in Great Bend. Rohr served from 1961 to 1963, and earned the rank of Specialist 4. The quilt top was made by Phyllis Manhart; quilting by Amy Schartz Mellor. Leonard Kreft


United States Navy veteran Leonard Kreft was awarded a Quilt of Valor from Golden Plains Quilts of Valor on April 29, 2022 at the American Legion Post 180 in Great Bend. Kreft served from 1966 to 1969, attaining the rank of Construction Electrician Third Class. The quilt top was made by Mary Lou Weiser; quilting by Amy Schartz Mellor. Robert Hertel


United States Army veteran Robert Hertel was awarded a Quilt of Valor from Golden Plains Quilts of Valor on April 29, 2022 at the American Legion Post 180 in Great Bend. Hertel served from 1967 to 1968 as a Specialist Fourth Class. The quilt top was made by Millie Hill; quilting by Amy Schartz Mellor.
