Both commission, council to discuss eco dev block grants

The Barton County Commission and the Great Bend City Council both meet Monday, and both plan virtual meetings due to COVID-19 public gathering restrictions.

The commission will meet at 9 a.m. Monday at the Barton County Courthouse, 1400 Main in Great Bend. But the meeting will not be open to the public except via live-streaming. It will be streamed through Microsoft Teams. Citizens may view the meeting through their own sign-in or by signing in anonymously.

The agenda includes a public hearing to consider an application to be submitted to the Kansas Department of Commerce for Small Cities Community Development Block Grant funds and action on the matter, approval of cereal malt beverage licences and an update on the Oxford houses.

The council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday. The meeting will be open to the public. One can still view the meeting live online at www.facebook.com/gbcitycouncil/. 

The agenda includes Community Development Block Grant economic development and meal program grants, the vacation of a Portion of White Sands Drive, the audit report, a Bat Cats request for a fireworks show and ballfield lighting.
