Friends of Vonda Halfhill are organizing a bowl-a-thon fundraiser due to her recently being diagnosed with ALS.

ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.

“We all know that Vonda has a heart of gold and has helped so many,” said Amber Barnes, the contact person for those wishing to participate. Entries are being taken for the event taking place Sunday, May 1, from 1-4 p.m. at Walnut Bowl, 3101 Washington St., Great Bend.

The entry fee is $30 per person and all proceeds will help Halfhill with expenses for travel, medical bills and other needs such as medical equipment.

The sponsors will also have a drawing for prizes. The suggested donation is $5 for one ticket or $20 for five tickets. You need not be present to win.

To sign up or make a contribution, contact Amber Barnes by calling 620-786-1266.
