A Larned man and a Hoisington man were injured early Thursday afternoon when their cars collided on U.S. 281  on the north edge of Great Bend.
Seventy-two-year-old Carl Bryant, Hoisington, was taken to Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington, and 18-year-old Jonathan Peterson, Larned, was transported to Great Bend Regional Hospital, both via Great Bend Fire Department ambulances. Both, the only occupants in their vehicles, had minor injuries.
According to the Barton County Sheriff’s Office, Bryant was following Peterson and they were both northbound on U.S. 281 at about 12:45 p.m. Peterson stopped his 2000 Pontiac Grand Am to allow another driver to turn into the Glass King lot. Bryant, driving a 1999 Mercury, didn’t see Peterson stop and struck his car in the rear.
The Kansas Highway Patrol and Great Bend Fire Department assisted.
