Mark Dvorak, a nationally known folk singer and songwriter, will appear in The Back Room of the Barton County Arts Center, Forest and Main, Great Bend at 2 p.m., Sunday. Admission is $10 and, since seating is limited, advance reservations or tickets are encouraged. His roots are in Chicago, but since 1981 Dvorak has been crisscrossing the country performing. He has been called "a folk singer’s folk singer who follows unerringly in the footsteps of Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie," and his song writing has been called "wondrous" and "profound."
When he’s not on the road, Dvorak is a member of the faculty at Chicago’s historic Old Town School of Folk Music, where he has taught classes and held folk jam sessions for over two decades.
Dvorak’s last CD, "Every Step of the Way," was released on the Waterbug label is receiving wide acclaim in the United States and abroad. A new CD, "Time Ain’t Got Nothin’ on Me," is scheduled to be released in November.
