Commission to discuss expanding Sunday alcohol sales, council talks consumption zone

The Barton County Commission and the Great Bend City Council both meet Monday, and both plan virtual meetings due to COVID-19 public gathering restrictions.

The commission will meet at 9 a.m. Monday at the Barton County Courthouse, 1400 Main in Great Bend. The meeting will be open to the public but will also be streamed live due to COVID-19.

It will be streamed through Microsoft Teams. Citizens may view the meeting through their own sign-in or by signing in anonymously.

The agenda includes a resolution authorizing and expanding hours of Sunday sales of alcoholic liquor and cereal malt beverage in the original package within the unincorporated areas of Barton County, a Central Kansas Community Corrections Advisory Board appointment and continued budget discussions.

The Great Bend City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, at the Great Bend Events Center, 3111 10th St. One can also view the meetings on Access TV via Cox Cable Channel 20 or live online at www.facebook.com/gbcitycouncil/. The meeting will be recorded.  The agenda includes a consumption zone approval, a public hearing for the Kansas Public Water Supply Loan Fund application for the installation of an automated meter reading system, 2021 storm box rehabilitations and two rezoning requests.
