ELLINWOOD — At 3:15 a.m., Tuesday, May 1, Ellinwood Police Officer Gerrod Carr saw and smelled smoke coming from the detached garage belonging to David Roach, 512 S. Main, Ellinwood. Ellinwood Fire Department responded. The garage and it’s contents, valued at approximately $30,000, were destroyed according to Ellinwood Fire Chief Chris Komarek. A pickup truck inside was heavily damaged. Firefighters were on the scene for about two hours. It was determined the fire was electrical in nature. A short was evident at the bottom of the breaker box, Komarek said.
