Barton Automotive Technology student Ashley Revel knows full well the tremendous benefits derived from the Barton Foundation. As a scholarship recipient for the 2015-16 school year, her dream to make a living as a certified mechanic is being realized.
“Thank you so much for helping me to further my education,” she wrote in a thank you note to the scholarship donor, Dove Buick Chevrolet Cadillac. “I’ve looked into going back to school for a long time, but with two kids, now 12 and 9, that goal had been a distant one.”
Revel intends on earning Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification, associate in applied science degree and eventually a master’s degree. She currently works in the automotive department at the Great Bend Walmart.
Revel is one of many students able to attend school thanks to scholarships provided through the Barton Foundation, but there is still a significant need for more. In an effort to build awareness and help more students, the Barton Foundation is participating in #GivingTuesday on Dec. 1, a national campaign localized by the Golden Belt Community Foundation and local participating nonprofits.
Barton’s goal is to raise $10,000, the amount needed to establish an endowed scholarship, which perpetually funds students’ education from investment earnings every year, forever.

How to participate
Any amount is welcome. Drop a check off at the Golden Belt Community Foundation, 1307 Williams St. in Great Bend for the Barton endowment, or donate online: Give.bartonccfoundation.org.
Make it special: Give in the memory or honor of someone you love. Give as a holiday gift in someone’s name. Establish a new scholarship, which can be done over the course of five years.
Be sure to spread the word about your gift by using the hashtag #GivingTuesday and #GoBarton on social media.
