GBCF announces 2011 Paul J. Urban Scholarship recipients

The Golden Belt Community Foundation recently awarded four scholarships from the Paul J. Urban Memorial Scholarship Fund.

The 2011 Paul J. Urban Memorial Scholarship recipients are Ryan Bretches, Aaron Pfaff, Kalie LeShore, and Colby Barton.

Ryan Bretches is a 2011 graduate of Great Bend High School. In high school, Ryan has been involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Madrigal Pop Singers, A Capella Choir, Freshman Mentoring Program, KAYS, Future Business Leaders of America, America’s Promise, DARE, and Camp Hope. Ryan is also an active member of his Church Youth Group, Sunday Worship Team and AWANAs, while serving as the Middle School Youth Group Leader. Ryan plans to attend Sterling College while majoring in Youth Pastor Ministry or Christian Counseling.

Aaron Pfaff is a 2011 graduate of Great Bend High School. In high school, Aaron was involved in Music, Pep Club, KAYS and Future Farmers of America. Aaron plans to attend Barton Community College to earn a degree in Applied Science with emphasis in Business Management and Leadership.

Kalie LaShore is a 2011 graduate of Great Bend High School. In high school, Kalie was involved in Kayettes, Pep Club, Future Educators, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Honor Society, and Freshman Mentoring Program. She was also involved with numerous sports, including cheerleading, track, cross country and basketball. Kalie plans to attend Kansas Wesleyan University and major in pre-med.

Colby Barton is a 2011 graduate of Great Bend High School. In high school, Colby was involved in FFA, Theatre Club, Future Business Leaders of America, KAYS, National Honor Society, Freshman Mentoring Program, 4-H, Washington Leadership Program and Swimming. Colby has volunteered for the Humane Society, Recycling Center, and Santa’s Workshop. Colby plans to attend Barton Community College and major in Theatre and Fine Arts. After Barton, Colby will attend Kansas State University.
