GBHS FFA attends Kansas Equifest

Pictured is the Great Bend High School FFA judging team and members at the Kansas Equifest in Wichita. The judging team of Maddy Hayden, Cory Burnham, Caleb Maneth and Destany English took 1st in the Beginning Class and the team of Lakin Funk, Kelsy Ford, Randi Stambaugh and Maryann Whaley took 3rd in the Beginning Class. FFA members Jessica Disque and Kylie Ford also made the trip. After the judging contest the students visited with vendors and watched live demonstrations. FFA Adviser Rollie Peter and his wife won a Registered Welch Pony in a silent auction sponsored by the Kansas Horse Council.

Barton County 4-Hers receive scholarships

Barton County 4-H members were presented scholarships to further their education from the Barton County 4-H Holding Board, Chari Miller-Manry and the Carl and Evelyn Miller Memorial scholarship funds. The 4-H Holding Board Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation and all funds are used for the benefit of 4-H youth of Barton County. Matching funds for the Holding Board scholarships were provided by Chari Miller-Manry, in memory of Allan V. Miller who served as a volunteer 4-H leader for many years.
