Speaking about “A Person Who Has Overcome,” two local orators placed at a speech contest in Dodge City. The first place winner was Leah Stein, center, a 7th grader from Dodge City. The second place winner was Marcie Schartz, right, a sixth grader from Holy Family School in Great Bend, and the third place winner was Sarah Hammeke, left, a sixth grader from Ellinwood. The contest was sponsored by the Modern Woodmen of America, a fraternal financial services organization.
