Oreos or Chips Ahoy? Which will be the official class cookie at Eisenhower Elementary School?

Students from Molly Brown’s third-grade class at Eisenhower Elementary hosted a “sweet” election on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

“Over the past two weeks, my students have been researching and experiencing the process of an election during our Reading Enrichment time,” Brown said. “After determining who our candidates would be, they created campaign posters that are now displayed in the hallway, and today they voted. We’ve spent this time learning about civic rights and responsibilities, the electoral college, and other aspects that can be confusing, even to adults. I wanted to make it clear to my students and their parents that we are focusing on the process. They campaigned for cookies, not candidates — team Oreo or team Chips Ahoy.”

Mrs. Brown also planned a surprise for her students, they would enjoy cookies when their election winner was announced on Tuesday afternoon.

The Great Bend Tribune has not yet received the final results.
