On Saturday May 4th the Great Bend Forensics squad traveled to Emporia High School for the 5A State Championship Speech Tournament. They competed in 16 events, which gave them a full entry. Placing 8th out of 25 schools, the team had five events break into semifinals.
The students that broke into semifinals were Michael Gieck in Impromptu and Poetry, Marissa Hoisington in Informative, Chase Pumford in Humorous Interpretation, and Kameko Schultz in Informative. Also contributing to sweepstakes were Catherine Barrington in Poetry, Nathaniel Cheney in Duo Interpretation and Original Oration, Clara Kachanes in Prose and Original Oration, Sarah Keller in Humorous Interpretation, Kane Schumacher in Duo Interpretation, and Paige VanSteenburgh in Impromptu and Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking.
