Garden Pot workshop

Kick off spring gardening with a workshop about making your own faux stone pots for succulents. The first in a year-long series of hands-on exploration workshops is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 27, at the Grassroots Art Center in Lucas. Carolyn Bigham and Doris Johnson will help participants explore some of the possibilities for creating custom garden pots using a mix of concrete, vermiculite and plaster. Objects can be cast in a rough mold and then further embellished with carving before the mixture hardens completely. Students can try their hand at carving on a small pre-cast pot before dipping their hands in the lovely mudpie mix to create a piece of their own design. Class size will be limited. Call the Grassroots Art Center to enroll for the workshop. There is a small fee for supplies and instruction; bring your own rubber gloves.
