On Friday, Feb. 13 at approximately 12:34 p.m., the Great Bend Fire Department responded to a large grass fire that began as a controlled burn west of U.S. 281 on SE 20 Road in the county. Upon arrival, crews observed approximately 10 acres of grass on fire, threatening several RV’s as well as the backyards of several residences.  Multiple brush units were deployed and the fire was extinguished without damage to residences or RV’s.
