GBHS Instrumentalists place high at Regional Music Festival

Great Bend High School instrumentalist recently competed at the Regional Music Festival at Barton Community College and received excellent ratings. Barton County Community College hosted the Kansas State High School Activities Association Regional Music Festival on April 5. “I” ratings were awarded to: Allison Regehr, french horn; Anna Frizell, clarinet; Jordan Otten, Michael Raymer, alto saxophone; Ozioma Ofoma, tenor saxophone; Ben Diel, Gatlin Reed, trumpet;  Michelle Rooney, euphonium; Clara Kachanes, Dorian Lueth, strings; and the Brass Trio of Ben Diel, Kayn Milholland and Andrew Erb.
“II” ratings were presented to: Taylor Dougherty, Kaitlynn Tuey, Kaitlin Adams, clarinet; Abby Rose, flute; Caleb Klein, snare drum; Eric Vazquez, bari sax; Andrew Curtright, euphonium; Trombone Trio of Kira Bunn, Aubrey Maneth, Michelle Rooney; and the String Quartet of Clara Kachanes, Dorian Lueth, Jessica Freund, Sara Nelson. The Clarinet Trio of Anna Frizell, Kaitlynn Tuey and Maycie Hestand missed having a 2 by 1 point. Alyxius Torres wasn’t able to perform due to illness, and Santiago Talamantes was in the finals of the local tennis tournament, so he wasn’t able to compete.
For those receiving “I” ratings, State will be held April 26 at Emporia High School.
